And, we are putting together an exciting menu of advertising opportunities for sponsors that will include “live” and pre-recorded spots as well as Internet-based advertising far below broadcast prices. In addition, sponsors are not locked-in to 13-week campaigns but rather they can now have custom runs for as long as they want as well as single show options. They will be able to get their message out with more frequency and significantly save advertising dollars.

Peter Hay, Music Industry Veteran and Head of Twin Vision, Talks about Indie Music on December 11th

Join hosts Garrison Leykam and Betty-Lynn White for the December 11th Summit Your Life radio program interview with music industry veteran and head of Twin Vision, Peter Hay. Listen to the podcast of the interview.

Twin Vision was launched seventeen years ago by PETER HAY whose career spans thirty-five years in the music industry. He spent eight years at London Records where, as an integral member in the A&R department, he was instrumental in the development of the careers of ZZ Top, Dave Edmunds, Thin Lizzy, Al Green, John Mayall, and Savoy Brown. He also worked on publicity and promotion for the Moody Blues, Van Morrison, Tom Jones, and the Rolling Stones.

In the mid-Seventies, Hay traveled frequently to Austin, Texas to work with artists who were part of the burgeoning progressive country scene there (a prelude to what is now called Americana).

Hay went on to provide A&R, promotion, publicity, marketing, and operations management for independent labels like CAM, SWS, Polish, NEO and artists, including Bonnie Raitt, David Spinozza, Ronnie Spector and The Dead Boys.

NY Times Business Columnist Joe Nocera talks about his Best-Selling Book, “All The Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis” on December 4th

Join hosts Garrison Leykam and Betty-Lynn White for the December 4th Summit Your Life radio program interview with Joe Nocera, co-author of the new book, All The Devils Are Here: The Hidden History Of The Financial Crisis. Listen to the podcast of the interview. Order the book.

Despite dozens of previous books on the financial crisis, the full story is like the legend of the blind men and the elephant: almost everyone has missed the big picture. Until now. In their new book, All The Devils Are Here: The Hidden History Of The Financial Crisis, Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera put all the pieces together to reveal not just what happened in the Fall of 2008 but how we got there after decades of little-noticed changes.

Two of America’s most acclaimed business journalists, Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera, finally give us the full elephant in All The Devils Are Here: The Hidden History Of The Financial Crisis. Joe Nocera is a business columnist for The New York Times and a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine. Before joining The New York Times in 2005, Mr. Nocera spent 10-years at Fortune where he was a contributing writer, editor-at-large, executive editor and most recently editorial director. He has won three Gerald Loeb awards and three John Hancock awards for excellence in business journalism. He was a finalist for a 2007 Pulitzer Prize.

The Feast: “Unlikely Town Spawns New Indie Talk Radio Program” by Peyton Dougherty

“Unlikely Town Spawns New Indie Talk Radio Program” by Peyton Dougherty in The Feast

Connecticut’s indie talk radio scene has a new duo, whose popular life improvement-themed show is broadcasting from the most unlikely of towns: Westport.

Fairfield County’s posh retreat for commuting investment bankers, child-rearing yupsters, and elderly curmudgeons is also the base of operations for Garrison Leykam and Betty-Lynn White, hosts of the ‘Summit Your Life’ radio program on 1400 WSTC/1350 WNLK in Fairfield County.

The program began as a way for Leykam to to cope with his own unemployment. Since it’s an unpaid brokered radio job, he’s had to host, write material, and locate guests and sponsors on his own. The program launched in February, and initially focused on unemployment in the area (yes, even Fairfield County is hurting), featuring local officials involved in job creation and placement. Since then, the show has expanded its focus and attracted higher-profile guests, including CNBC anchors Michelle Caruso-Cabrera and Maria Bartiromo and ‘Ice Road Truckers’ star Lisa Kelly. They’ve booked an eclectic and entertaining slate that also includes former White House doctor and author Dr. Connie Mariano, UFO enthusiast William J. Birnes, and Emmy-nominated filmmaker and noted rock climber, Chris Warner. They even scored an interview with Governor Dan Malloy.

The show is also available on a podcast, which is where it has received substantial attention, increasing its downloads by over 25 percent each month, from July through October. Leykam and White are savvy, do-it-yourself types, who are also marketing themselves on Facebook and Twitter. Indie radio doesn’t have a tremendous foothold in Connecticut, but it is certainly nice to see people focusing their energy on the cause, and bringing the area some much-needed cultural relief.
